Bigcommerce, the fastest-growing commerce platform for growing and emerging brands, today announced that Tim Schulz has joined the company as senior vice president of product management. In this role, Schulz will be responsible for leading the product organization, setting Bigcommerce’s product vision, and working closely with the development team to achieve that vision.
Schulz brings deep industry and product knowledge to Bigcommerce from his most recent role at Google, where he led strategic partnerships and business development strategy for Google’s Product Listing Ads business. In this role, he worked in-depth with many of the world’s leading SMB e-commerce platforms and marketplaces. Schulz also led strategic partnerships with large retailers for many of Google’s next generation shopping products including Shopping Express (same-day delivery), Wallet (mobile commerce) and Local Product Listing Ads (local inventory availability).
Prior to Google, Schulz served as Magento’s first product manager, leading teams that built, launched and scaled several global products in a matter of weeks. He also worked with the executive team to grow the company into a global industry leader.
“Tim is an incredibly talented head of product who will be a tremendous complement to our team, company and long-term goals,” said West Stringfellow, Bigcommerce’s chief product officer. “He has a strong operational skill set, an incredible business development and product network in the Valley, and a very strong e-commerce strategic vision and knowledge. He also possesses a unique awareness of the sector – its strengths, weaknesses and opportunities.
In fact, I have never met someone with so much insight into SMB and enterprise commerce space.”
Said Schulz: “Bigcommerce is at the forefront of one of the fastest-growing sectors on the planet, and I’m thrilled to be part of the world-class team they’re building. The company is in a unique position to capture several new global opportunities and to deliver impactful solutions to both small and large retailers. Bigcommerce is definitely one of the most exciting companies in the Bay Area right now.”
Schulz began his career at Sapient, consulting with large IR200 brands on e-commerce strategy and building digital shopping experiences to engage customers online and in-store. He was also senior product manager at Myspace/News Corp., where he worked with the team that launched Myspace into new international markets. He will be based in Bigcommerce’s San Francisco office.
